Section B mares Saturday

Mocha 2015

Midnight Promise Me Mocha

Mocha is a stunning dark dapple palomino 7 year old Welsh Section B mare. She is 13.3 hands tall and weighs about 800 lb

This mare is athletic and has top bloodlines (Gayfields Bling! Bling! x Gayfields Whisper My Name Mr).  She would make a great addition to any farm that wanted to add height, color and athleticism to their breeding program.

I have owned Mocha since she was a weanling.  She has been handled regularly and trained on the ground and under saddle using Natural Horsemanship methods combined with traditional English riding.

Mocha leads, ties, bathes, clips, loads, stands for the farrier, ground ties, is easy to catch, and is well mannered to work around.

Her ridden training was started as a four year old (2014), and she has had a total of 120 days professional training, plus a two week tune-up this year after a long winter break. She is light and responsive to hand and leg cues: walk, trot, canter, lateral, back-up, turns on forehand and haunches, poles and trail obstacles.  She has no jumping or trail experience.

Mocha has been shown successfully in hand in breed classes, and under saddle in Novice English Pleasure and Trail classes.  She has also been ridden in group riding lessons.

Mocha would make a brilliant ride for an experienced sensitive rider to finish, but she is not for children or beginners. She is not a pony that can be forced since she is very sensitive. She has been slow to mature emotionally but is more settled every year.  She needs more time in the right hands for her training to be completed.

Because she is high energy, she is not suited to a stall situation - she needs a run-in shed and space to move.  She is used to being with other horses and must go to a home with other equine company.

Mocha 2015

Fewer photos from 2015 for a couple of reasons:  Although Mocha did really well at the WPCSA show in in-hand and ridden classes, we have few pictures because we were trying to show 3 ponies and had our hands too full for a camera!  Later in the year, I had some serious health issues so there was less horse activity from October 2015 for many months…

Mocha 2016

Only light riding for Mocha in 2016 (29 rides total), because of my health.
